Eligibility Requirements: Autism Certificate (AC)

 

The Autism Certificate (AC) is available for all professionals employed in a setting that requires you to work or have contact with individuals with autism. This autism certification recognizes professionals dedicated to promoting quality care in the field of Autism. The Autism Certificate does not require a Masters degree.

If you have your Master’s degree, you may qualify for the Certified Autism Specialist credential. Please review CAS requirements to see if you meet the full qualifications.


Eligibility Requirements:

  1. Applicants must be currently employed in a setting that requires you to work or have contact with individuals with autism.
  2. Applicants must have earned 14 hours of continuing education that directly relate to autism within the last two years. These CEs can be earned through IBCCES University as part of the CAS application process. If you have already completed 14 hours of continuing education within the last 2 years, check here to make sure the hours can be applied toward your CAS.

Registration Fee

The registration fee includes application review, Autism Competency Exam, issuance of certification number, certificate, and wallet ID card sent via mail. A digital badge is also available upon request.

  • Autism Certificate Registry Fee: *$295.00 (valid for two years)
  • Autism Certificate Renewal Every Two Years: $149.00

* The Registry Fee will be refunded if the applicant is not approved (minus $35 for processing).

** International Applicants will receive a digital copy of the certificate and wallet card. Physical copies will be sent upon request and assessed a $25 shipping and handling fee.

Renewal Process

Credentialing shall be effective upon the date issued and shall expire at the end of 24 months from the date of issuance. Re-certification requires 14 contact hours of continuing education or professional development hours from any industry-wide approved provider that directly relates to one of the ten areas of autism competency.

Code of Ethics & Standards of Practice

The Autism Certificate, as used by authorized persons, certifies that the professional has met the certificate qualifications. The Autism Certificate represents and includes career review and continuing education which enhances the individual’s qualifications, advanced knowledge and practice.
